What are the raw ingredients needed for home brewing Light Beer?
I am new to home brewing. Just started my first batch today using a beer kit.
The taste I'm going for (And I know its blasphemy) is Miller Light, Coors, bud light etc...
But at nearly $30.00 for a kit = 2 cases of beer. its almost not worth it. What are the raw ingredients I would need and what would the proper preparation of these ingredients be? Also where could I find these ingredients? I doubt the local grocery store.
Also, Can someone dumb down these ingredients. I have viewd several sites who give "Clone recipes" and I have no idea what they are saying...
Corvato pretty much dumbed the ingredients down. Lagers are a bit more difficult to brew than ales due to the fact that you have to ferment them at lower temperatures. you might want to start with pale ale or steam/California common beer.
This book really helped me out for my first brew. Its available for free online or for purchase. I reference it all the time (I'm no pro) http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html
There are plenty of places to get beer supplies from try googling your cities name followed by brew supplies. If you dont have a local retailer try looking for one online.
I have used these online retailers-

A clone recipe is a recipe that someone has made up that is meant to emulate a certain beer or certain style. I would not try going of someones clone recipe for your first brew. what you should do is consider ordering a extract brew kit.
take a look at the link I provided ( www.howtobrew.com) and do a bit of reading. specifically the chapter on your first brew. that should probably be enough to give you a jump start on brewing.
Cheers and Good Luck
