Do I have a case?
My fiance' is a black male and he lives in loganville, Ga at about 4:00 a.m he went to the bp gas station to buy a cigarette having his roommates' debit card (with permission) there was a elderly white lady working at the time and she swiped the card looked at him and asked to see his Id with both objects not matching he could not purchase anything she thinks he stole the card. He went back home and found some cash and then the lady rudely refused to sell him anything. He asked her her name so that he could report her to her managetr and she said it was none of his business. she called the police and told them that she could refuse a customer if she wanted (is that legal) the police(also white) told my fiance that she's just an old stupid lady and not to worry about it but at that time my fiance was very angry and upset. Can anything legal be done about this.
I'm sorry, but stores have the legal right to refuse anyone. You cannot take the person to court.
I probably would of done the same thing because you don't know if he stole the debit card. You should check if the card forces the cashier to check id. That gave her suspicion that he also stole the money. I doubt that the refusal was based on race.
