How do I get cuban cigars past security?
I'm going from Heathrow airport in London to new york with a few cuban cigars, 5 at most. I know everyone goes through security but I'm wondering if I put them in my carry on are they even going to notice? because if they do I'm thinking they won't assume I'm going to the US, I could be going to another country that allows cubans.
In London they are not worried - the only potential problem might be entering the US. If they found them and realised they are Cuban, they could confiscate them.
Both carry on and checked luggage is subject to X-ray and inspection. With carry-on at least you know there and then if they have a query.
But many travellers will have a few cigars with them, and many cigars are not Cuban cigars.
If you want to be more sure, remove the cigar bands and any identification. Then how can US customs know they are Cuban ? Submit them to scientific analysis ?
(Perhaps send the bans with someone else.)
