Is there a legal way I can make my landlord replace the wood stove?
We have a wood stove for main heat and back up electric but the wood stove is really crappy so our electric heat is costing too much. We use the wood stove all the time and it has a crack in the back and also whenever the wind starts blowing the smoke ALWAYS comes inside so we have to open the door... then the electric kicks on. I'm always afraid to leave my dog home alone because the cabin is small and fills up with smoke very quickly. I guess it is the same stove that has been in the cabin since they bought it 30 years ago and who knows how long it was there before then.
so is there a way to like maybe have someone professional look at it and say its not in good shape and needs to replaced so they would legally have to replace it? or atleast pay the electric heat?!!
The landlord only has to provide one source of heat and your electric qualifies for that.
