Can I smoke a tobacco pipe right after smoking it?
I have a briar pipe and I have heard that you are supposed to wait 48 hours after smoking it before smoking it again. I was wondering if it is okay to right after finishing one bowl's worth, if I could then fill it again and smoke it? I think my pipe may be kind of small and I would like to make my smoking session longer without having to buy a second pipe.

The notion of resting your pipe is to allow time in which it can dry out. Moisture builds up in the pipe in general and in the wood of the pipe especially. In time the moisture can sort of rot the taste you get when smoking. Pipe smoking is for the taste and not necessarily for the nicotine. Reusing a moist pipe can affect the taste.
I don't know about the 48 hours. I usually heard 24 hours or over night. Whatever the time is sufficient to allow the pipe to dry out is long enough. The amount of time needed will vary from pipe to pick. Some woods will absorb more moisture than others I have several pipes the same make and same model and they seem to draw moisture differently. In time you will get enough experience to tell when your pipe has dried.
I have smoked a pipe without letting it dry and the world did not come to an end. In fact, with some pipes I could tell very little difference. Other pipes were a different story and tasted sour right away.
There is no hard and fast rule that applies to absolutely every pipe. The broad general rule covers most.
I have several pipes I keep out for smoking. Smoke one and set it side until tomorrow. And so on down the line. Every so often (when the whim strikes me) I take all those pipes and set them aside and bring other pipes for a new rotation. As you can see I have acquired quite a few pipes over time.
