Valve System Digital

have a lawn sprinkler system with 5 zones but timer has only 4 ?

new digital timer has only 4 screw terminals to control 4 zone valves. All the manuals say not to do this, but can't I connect 2 valves to one terminal?
They would be in parallel, halving the current if it were DC, but it's 24VAC and I've been out of school too long. Anybody know why the mfgr says doing this may damage the timer? Can I do it?
